Lisa Ruby, Executive Director
As Executive Director, Lisa is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Lose The Training Wheels with a primary focus on implementing our vision through strategic planning, business development, alliance building with other nonprofit organizations, fundraising, marketing and program development.
Lisa brings over 16 years of management and business experience. After a successful career in information technology, including starting and managing a successful consulting business for six years, Lisa chose to change career path to work for and with children and found her way to adapted recreation where she has worked for the past seven years.
Lisa believes that play is the purest form of therapy the world has to offer, and physical play the most beneficial for body, mind and soul. Lisa devotes her time and effort to delivering the highest quality program, working to ensure that everyone involved with Lose The Training Wheels, including staff, participants, families, volunteers, hosts and partners - learn and teach in a supportive community. Jeffrey Sullivan, Director of Finance & Administration
As Director of Finance & Administration, Jeff is responsible for strategic planning, business development, finance, accounting and other administrative duties.
Before joining Lose The Training Wheels, Jeff formed and served as the Camp Director of four LTTW bike camps in the Philadelphia area beginning in 2009 shortly after being inspired by his son's successful completion of a camp. In 2007 he co-founded and served as Board Chair for the Autism Horizon Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in North Carolina.
Prior to making the switch to the nonprofit world, from 2003 to 2007, Jeff served as VP, Corporate Controller for Henry Schein, Inc., a $10 billion Fortune 500 Company in the healthcare industry. From 1999 to 2003, he served as VP, Accounting & Financial Reporting for Insight Communications, Inc. Jeff began his professional career in 1991 at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP where he worked for eight years in the Business Assurance Practice as a CPA, specializing in nonprofit clients. He earned an MBA and a BA in English before beginning his professional career. Jeff can be reached at:

Dr. Tammy Burt, Director of Operations
As Director of Operations, Tammy is responsible for strategic planning, partnership collaboration, developing and delivering the highest quality programs and working to ensure that everyone involved with Lose The Training Wheels, including staff, participants, families, volunteers, camp directors, hosts and partners learn and teach in a supportive environment.
As an Assistant Professor of Physical Education at Ball State University in Indiana, her specialization is in adapted physical education/activity. Tammy became involved with LTTW during her doctoral studies at The Ohio State University. Her research involved the use of adapted bicycles on the learning of conventional cycling skills by children with disabilities. Also prior to becoming Director of Operations, Tammy regularly consulted with LTTW management and assisted in orientation and training for LTTW staff.
Prior to earning her PhD, Tammy received a MEd in Special Education from Bowling Green State University and BA in Physical Education from Anderson University. Tammy can be reached at:

Dr. Mark H. Emery, Board Advisor
Mark is Administrator for After-School Programs for Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) oversees the development and implementation of after-school programs in 27 middle schools. He is a Board Member of the Fairfax Partnership for Youth and is the former Director of the Fairfax County After-School Network. Mark also serves on the Board of Directors of the Fairfax County Boys’ and Girls’ Club. He was Project Director of the Extended Learning and Development Project for the Council of Chief State School Officers. Mark also served as Chair and Vice-Chair of the Fairfax County School Board.
Mark has retired from the Naval Research Laboratory, Washington, DC after 25 years as a Research Physicist. He holds a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Iowa.
